OILS FOR HEADACHES

Yesterday I had a migraine from literal hell. I don't think that I've ever experienced a migraine so painful before yesterday and I'm thankful that it's over.

It could have stemmed from a few things - not drinking enough water, not eating enough, not taking care of myself, not putting good food into my body, over-working myself, forgetting to take my LLV supplements, my hormones being all over the place, etc.

And I honestly DID end up taking an Ibuprofen because the oils were barely touching it and it was making me nervous... BUT these oils right here are my usual go-to's for minor headaches that usually work right away. Yesterday, these oils worked best at assisting and making the Ibuprofen eliminate the pain even quicker than if I had just taken it alone.

  • Copaiba - inhibits certain proteins and complexes involved in the inflammation response. In doing so, it can effectively modulate the acute (as opposed to chronic) inflammatory response.
  • LavenderAccording to researchers, aromatic and topical use of lavender oil affects the limbic system because the main constituents, linalool and linalyl acetate, are rapidly absorbed through the skin and are thought to cause central nervous system depression. For this reason, lavender oil can be used to treat headaches caused by anxiety disorders and related conditions.
  • Peppermint - plays a role in stimulating blood flow in the forehead when applied topically, which effectively alleviates a tension headache.

Then I have a little pre-made roller bottle of Deep Blue, Frankincense, Lavender, and Rosemary for headaches that usually does the trick as well. This blend is what I reach for at the first sign of any headache, and then I will add additional oils if needed.

I pulled out back up for my back up yesterday and it still didn't do the trick alone.

TOP TEN

These are the ten oils that I personally started with and was able to completely transform my personal wellness with. I replaced many of my not-so-great products with these oils and reduced my toxic load by so much.
Think of these oils as the base of your wellness... they are so versatile that having these top ten in your home will help begin to transform your health and wellness and help you replace many toxic products with natural and holistic options. You will soon begin to see your collection grow once you learn more about each oil and the others available to you.
Below is each individual oil and a few ways that it can come in handy. These oils are so versatile (you'll hear me say that a lot!) that there are plenty of other ways to use each one.

THE TOP TEN ESSENTIAL OILS

I owe it all to Melaleuca for saving my problem skin! I have very sensitive skin and I used to use harsh chemicals to try to get my acne to go away, when really all it did was make it worse because I was mainly only breaking out because of my sensitivity. Between that, messed up hormones, and eating poorly, my skin did not agree with me for awhile. I introduced Melaleuca to my skin with a gentle cleanser (that wasn't even meant for acne) and I can thankfully keep my breakouts under control.

I suffer from mild heartburn from time to time (who doesn't) and this lil blend comes in handy. DigestZen is a blend of Anise, Peppermint, Ginger, Caraway, Coriander, Tarragon, and Fennel essential oils and is specially formulated with oils that will help reduce bloating, gas, and occasional indigestion. This oil is great for little ones who suffer from reflux.

Pro-Tip! To get the gasses moving out from under your ribs, dilute and apply DigestZen on your tummy. Rub it in an apply a warm compress (heating bag / warm face cloth).

Deep Blue is a blend of Wintergreen, Camphor, Peppermint, Ylang Ylang, Helichrysum, Blue Tansy, Blue Chamomile, and Osmanthus. These oils are specifically formulated to ease muscles, help with back pain, help with joint and muscle aches. This is a great oil to use pre and post workout! doTERRA has a Deep Blue lotion to make application even easier!

Lavender is also one of my skin-saving oils! When my skin became real bad.

Pro-Tip! Add Lavender to Witch Hazel to use as a toner for problem skin. The calming effects of Witch Hazel along with the calming effects of Lavender really help calm down any inflammation on skin to help aid healing.

Lavender is my most used and appreciated oil that I can not go without! It is so versatile that it can practically be used for anything... from healing emotions to healing wounds, Lavender is a powerful oil to keep on hand at all times.

Frankincense is another one of my favorites. I love to use Frankincense to heighten and accept my spirituality. It is a very spiritual oil and vibrates at a very high frequency (147MHZ) which helps uplift your bodies own frequency. It is the third highest frequency oil, after Rose and Helichrysum. Frankincense also helps with improving your health at a cellular level.

Pro-Tip! If you have a bad headache that other oils aren't touching, add some Frankincense to your finger and apply on the roof of your mouth. Hold for 30 seconds to a minute to calm the inflammation.

Peppermint is great to use for any type of tension, pain, or inflammation and it's cooling effects are proven to lower fevers. I love to diffuse peppermint along with other oils (Purify, Citrus Bliss, Breathe, etc.) since it gives an extra level of benefits.

Pro-Tip! When your alleriges are acting up, combine Peppermint with Lavender and Lemon to act as an all natural anti-inflammatory!

OnGuard is doTERRA's Protective Blend. This combination of oils protects you not only from sickness, but from others energies as well. If you are an empath like me, OnGuard will help with that.

OnGuard also contains powerful oils that give your immune system an extra boost by supporting it with antioxidants to prevent you from getting sick and catching colds.

Pro-Tip! OnGuard is great on apples...

I can not go without Breathe (especially with cold season quickly approaching). If I happen to be lazy with OnGuard and taking my LLV supplements and catch any type of cold, this is where Breathe works its' magic. It is great for opening your lungs to get everything up and out.

Breathe is also the oil of breath. During times of anxiousness, Breathe helps you seriously breathe and in return, helps ease your anxiousness by finding your breath.

Pro-Tip! Diffuse with Serenity at night... trust me.. you'll thank me.

Oregano oil is the oil that I have known about for the longest. When I would get strep throat as a kid, my mom would have me take a drop of Oregano and quickly chase it with water. I wouldn't recommend this way, since it is an extremely hot oil, but it does the trick.

Pro-Tip! You can cook with this oil!

Lemon is a really great detoxing oil. Adding Lemon to your water daily helps detox your body of harsh chemicals while boosting your energy and tasting good. Lemon oil is derived from the Lemon peel, so the acidity that comes with lemons being in your water is not there. I do not get heartburn with Lemon oil in my water like I do with lemons!!

Pro-Tip! Add a few drops of Lemon to any sticky label. Wait a minute, then peel the label off with ease. Lemon is also great for removing stains (like crayon from walls) off of any surface. This is a great oil to clean with.

EMOTIONAL TOUCH - MOTIVATE & CONSOLE

My two current favorites from the emotional touch line go well with Halloween 💜🎃

Emotions.... so spooky 👻

•• MOTIVATE Peppermint, Clementine, Coriander, Basil, Yuzu, Melissa, Rosemary, and Vanilla essential oils come together to create doTERRA’s Encouraging blend. Not only does this help motivate you to keep on task, but the sweet citrus aroma brightens your mood and encourages you as well.
I like to apply Motivate on my temples (if I’m staying out of the sun *citrus oils are photosensitive*) and my wrists!

•• CONSOLE Frankincense, Patchouli, Ylang Ylang, Labdanum, Amyris, Sandalwood, Rose, and Osmanthus essential oils come together to create doTERRA’s Comforting Blend.
I apply this one behind my ears for comfort and on my chest so I can smell so so goood.

What are your go-to emotional oils?
